Over the past seven years, Sylvia James has been writing articles on business information for Business Information Alert. The discipline of writing short, precise content on company and market information for a monthly publication and the BIA Guides to International Business Information* is excellent, but there are more ways to communicate this knowledge and together with the publisher of BIA I have great pleasure in participating in a new set of seminars designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of business researchers.
The seminar will focus on the wide scope of finding global company information, which has now become a normal daily challenge for business researchers in all types of organizations. Ten years ago, research was mainly focused on a country or region hence we used the geography as a starting point. Global searching was then difficult then and still is a very complex task. There is a great deal of background knowledge and understanding required if the business researcher is to achieve good results. There are still few truly global sources for company data.. Even those that do have international reach do not offer the complete coverage that would make them ideal for “one-stop shopping.”
This seminar will be an overview and explanation of researching global companies; the background, a look at source routes and methodologies and a session of questions and discussion.
